Primal Training | Frequently Asked Questions

What the heck is a Performance Coach?

At Primal Human Performance, we don’t just have just ordinary personal trainers, we have Performance Coaches.

Anyone can count reps or stare at a stopwatch. And any trainer can push a client until they crumble into an exhausted heap on the floor. But are these often used methods always optimal? Does this always help their clients perform better or achieve spectacular results?

At Primal Human Performance, our Performance Coaches are selected not only on their ability to relate to our clients meeds, but also on their extensive ability to elicit specific changes in our clients: leading to RESULTS.

Our Performance Coaches guide you safely and efficiently towards the body you want: with more stamina, more strength, more endurance, and ultimately, more performance than you thought humanly possible.

Why do I need a Performance Coach?

The main reason for using a Performance Coach is to make the best use of your limited and most valuable resource: your time. The reason our Performance Coaches have spent the hundreds, if not thousands, of hours learning, acquiring and applying specialized anatomy, physiology and exercise science knowledge, is so you don’t have to. Just follow their lead and end up with the results you’re looking for. It’s that simple.

Who can benefit from a Performance Coach?

Anyone who wants to achieve their optimal health and ultimate performance, and is willing to put in some hard work and consistent effort, will reap the countless physical and psychological rewards of a properly designed and executed exercise program! This includes youths, adults, beginners and professional athletes alike.

Beginners: If you’re new to the world of fitness, a Primal Performance Coach can help you safely get started the right way!  Our Performance Coaches have the training and real-world experience to keep you consistently motivated while teaching you proper exercise technique and safe use of equipment. They will build you a comprehensive program based on your unique requirements and goals. At Primal Human Performance, there are no cookie cutter training plans. Period. Working with our Performance Coach, you will ensure that your first foray into the fitness world is a rewarding one geared towards getting you serious results.

Gym veterans or plateau-busting: After a while, most people who work out on their own will naturally hit a frustrating plateau that seems to last forever. While there are many factors that contribute to this phenomenon, your Performance Coach is able to quickly and efficiently institute specific alterations to your training methods or techniques in order to kick start your progress again. Not only will you break through the stagnation and start seeing results again, you’ll also learn new tips and tricks to keep your workouts fresh and exciting for the future.

Elite Performance or Sport Specific Training: Primal Performance Coaches have the experience and training to help you take your athletic or sport performance to the next level. Our Performance Coaches have invested significant time and money in their continuing education and are some of the top in the industry. Your drive, desire and determination coupled with their knowledge, tools and techniques will make you stronger, faster and more powerful than you ever thought possible. You will attain your ultimate performance. Your Primal Performance.

Post Injury Rehabilitation: Our Performance Coaches have the ability to help you safely transition from injury rehabilitation back to your regular physical activities. They will work closely with your medical team, including your Primal Practitioners, to ensure you’re always receiving optimal care. If you’re currently injured, our Performance Coaches are able to help you work around any limitations you may have to make sure you don’t lose any of your hard-earned fitness while you’re recovering or in rehabilitation.

Do I have to pay a monthly membership fee if I am working with a Performance Coach?

We aren’t a membership gym facility, therefore we don’t require you to pay a monthly membership to work with our Performance Coaches. However, due to limited space, and to ensure that each client working with his or her Performance Coach has fair access to the facility and equipment, we don’t allow individuals to utilize the training space without having a session booked with one of our team members.

What kind of training do your Performance Coaches have?

Rest assured, our Performance Coaches have been carefully selected to meet your, and our, exceedingly high standards. Not only do they possess some of the most reputable fitness certifications, but they’re constantly keeping up to date with the latest industry trends while remaining grounded in the tried and tested principles of strength & conditioning and the exercise sciences.

Will using a Performance Coach make my training safer?

Your Performance Coach will motivate and inspire you to push beyond your limits, safely. While exercise has many benefits, it also has many risks, most notably the risk of injury. Using the specialized services of our Performance Coaches can significantly minimize your risk as they will correct your technique, ensure proper execution of exercises and progress your training appropriately.

How do they design my program?

Based on your initial assessment, and taking into consideration your strengths, weaknesses and limitations, your Primal Performance Coach will design a comprehensive program specifically for you that will safely maximize your results in the shortest amount of time.

How often should I be working with my Performance Coach?

How often you meet with your Performance Coach is flexible and will depend on a number of variables, most specifically you and your goals or objectives.

Those starting out or those seeking quicker results typically opt for 2-3 sessions a week. For those looking to break through a plateau or learn some new exercises, once or twice a week is the norm. For elite sports or performance objectives, 4-5 times a week, or more, may be required.

Again, your Performance Coach will discuss your options with you and can make recommendations on the frequency of training sessions based on your specific goals and timelines.

I’m ready to get started, what do I do next?

We’re glad you’re ready to take the next step on your health and performance journey so we want to make it as easy as possible for you. Just contact us to set up your two-part Performance Consultation and we’ll even pick up the tab on this one (a $99 value, one per person).

In the first part, you will be asked to define your training goals, describe your past exercise history, explain any health concerns/limitations, as well as discuss any concerns or preferences you may have.

In the second part, our team will then take objective baseline measures in order to create your personalized training program as well as to use as a comparison during regular re-assessments (e.g. body weight, skin fold measures, girth measures, movement screen etc).

Next, our team will recommend one of our highly skilled Performance Coaches who would complement your training objectives, goals and requirements and then book you in for your first Primal training session.

In just a few short weeks, you, and those around you, will see and feel the difference!
